Am I so inclined to write? Not really, but as usual it is late and there are things to be said-though I am not sure whether it is from the twenty pounds of turkey in my belly or if it will come out in the form of logic. Natasha from Ukraine (is it "The Ukraine" or just "Ukraine?") joined our family for lunch today and witnessed our first ever actual carving of a turkey. Normally, thanksgiving is held in the almost nonexistant Thomaston with relatives that have the most interesting of names (Uncle Dewey, Aunt Cootie-no that is not a fabrication, Mildred, Cecil, and Roy, etc...) Once upon a time there was a whole heap of us, as my grandfather would say, but cousins grow up and move to California and others get so old that they simply can not live one more day. I remember celebrating Mama Addie's 103rd birthday. They had to take her car away and she put up quite the fight. If she were still alive today, she would be 120 and she would probably be sneaking out in the middle of the night to get a spare key made. Ole' Addie had thick skin but she was as sweet as cinnamon and sugar, and funny too! I guess she had to be with 13 children and 7000 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. I am thankful more and more every day for the family I have in my life and for the history that they have given me. I think that is the main reason that I document my thoughts. One day, my great grandchildren (if the world is still turning) will have pages and pages of their great grandmother's every daydream in their possession. I always wonder what people thought on a daily basis "back then." So many words are lost in translation and forgotten, even by the speaker or thinker who spoke/thought them; but writing helps preserve even the silliest of ideas.
Thank you Jesus for the many blessings...
