Getting sentimental...about History?

I have now feasted my eyes upon the world’s finest masterpieces. I have stood on the sanctified alters of leading religious leaders. I have even walked the sacred grounds on which my own American troops have bravely fought, to ensure my freedom. To provide a more specific example of my experiences, I recall a truly meaningful visit to Anzio. This historically important town lies, reborn, in the region of Lazio, Italy. During the past two months, Marco Antonini has provided an unmatched account of the wars that plagued this land for so long. On November 3, 2005, He led us through history, as we explored the birth places of history itself. I was humbled as I walked through the largest American military cemetery in Italy. Solemn and peaceful were the grounds that blanketed thousands of servicemen; their souls still seemed to linger in the fields and streets of Anzio. I will, like many others, never forget the impact of that terrific battle. I am forever indebted to those who have allowed me the opportunity to sharpen my intellect, and furthermore, to gain a new appreciation for the world that surrounds me, under such superb and respected leadership.
