I compare my life today to the master-mind producer, Tim Burton's ...(dun, dun, dun...) "Big Fish." Let's say I'm Ewan. My future is Sandra. God is Danny Divito. Well, God is not Danny Divito and Danny Divito sure isn't God, but it's an analogy, so just go with me. I'm working all the live long day, scrubbing elephants and standing in the ring of fire while crazy motorcyclists zoom around me. God comes by and quietly says, "She goes to Aw-burn." No, that's what Danny Divito says to Ewan regarding Sandra. God says to me, "She was born in the library." A few months later, He says to me, "Her favorite food is pasta."
Where is this going, you ask? I have no idea really.... I think the point is a strong work ethic leads to great opportunities.
Reading between the lines but not reading into the lines-now that's a challenging art. Go here, do this, make this, don't say that, live there, speak to them, drink this, don't drink that, etc...It's all about listening and following directions.
Pause
The picture of the moment: Black shirt, black pants, flat j crew slip on's, burberry scarf from Ireland (note: burberry is not an Irish company), glasses, power book, black pea coat....
Complaint: Everybody looks the same, acts the same, talks the same, smells the same, thinks the same, and so on.
I dress myself into another world, a world where variety takes the upper hand. In that world, people are individually stimulated by art, music, dance, law, medicine, history, and the likes. They work well together because they all have something to bring to the table. Each man, woman, boy, and girl has a fresh take on the day and they think what they think simply because it's the first thing that pops into their head. No one has told them where they should buy their coffee and no one speaks to them as if they are less than their counterparts; this is because each individual has valuable insights that the whole team needs.
Take the Asian girl sitting across from me. She is wearing some sort of multi-colored clown pant with about 10 patch pockets of either leg. Her feet are kept warm by white and wine colored designer lace up shoes, and she is wrapped in a generic black coat. Now, I know that no one is telling her how to dress. This girl is a true self-inspired fashion diva who apparently sleeps quite well in the moderately comfortable chair on the third floor of the Auburn library.
Auburn...That brings me back to Danny Divito and Ewan.
I have absolutely no idea what I am saying or why I'm saying it. If Oprah read this blog, she would laugh at the thought of publishing me. Oh dear, me. Let me chew on these thoughts and when I have something remotely intelligent to say I will, then, resume typing.
