Can you hear it? Time goes by (so slowly, slowly, as the song says) and we become obliterated by the normalcy of our day to day routines. Once we have reached the state of near numbness, all awareness of the activity that surrounds us seems to fade. Those of us who were born into the world of super technology and global community have adopted a vocabulary that we do not completely understand. Words such as sexual orientation, diversity, and civil liberty have brought new definitions to the fore front of the world of activism. Today we find ourselves fighting for the right to redefine marriage. We have allowed ourselves to be fed a set of ideas selected by a small group of action-oriented thinkers. We are told to lead, but from the beginning they have trained us to be incredible followers, diligent workers, and decent listeners. The message is world peace, compromise, and unity. The fine print reads, "do not offend the specified groups, resist the message, or deny the system; Do not listen to your gut, but play your part and no one will be fired...Or failed." Friends, a tsunami is building around us and we do not see it, even as we stand in its very eye. It destroys from the inside, out, with a great force, but we are deafened to its roar. We have listened to the winds for so long that we no longer hear it, but focus...Be intent with your listening ear...Can you hear the howls of destruction? The power of right and wrong is within you; Do not be denied your right to speak. Do not be lazy. Fight for what shakes your core. You will find, I believe, that respect follows boldness. Those who agree will value your contribution and those who disagree will admire your strength. Do not be fooled into thinking that the world will be made right through ignorance. People perish for the lack of knowledge...
