Where have all the cowboys gone? Oh yes, they are all riding off with my lovely friends and their lovely sparkling rocks into the sunset. This is when I, as a Southern lady in waiting, am supposed to go into an anti-man speech and begin counting the days until I buy a dozen long haired cats and enroll in crochet lessons...Because we all know that 21 is the age when a girl only has 4 more years before all hope of marriage is lost to the next crop of curvy 17 year olds who haven't discovered the world of coffee bellies and dark circles under the eyes.

(And the record screeches to an abrupt halt)

Not so, my friend, not so. It's raining outside. It's thundering loudly-it shakes my bed. Every now and then, lightening strikes. Those welcomed summer storms are beginning to show up around here and the Southern sky embraces it. I love the sound of rain against my window. I also like to sit in my bathroom (not on the potty). It's a great place to think and relax and escape from whatever or whoever one wishes to escape. I love my bathroom for its chocolate walls that are pretty enough to bite into and for the aveda shampoo that sits, barely propped on the tiny, sloped ridge of the tub. I love the smell of the green tea candle and the tube of fabulously red lipstick that hides under the sink for when I feel the need to wear it. Tonight, with the help of the amenities mentioned above and Coltrane and the great Postal Service, I find myself in some happy little world- Happy that the beautiful friends I have been blessed with are moving on to that exciting time when they can buy aprons and nice plates because they have a good excuse to do so. I sit and grin at the thought of their joy. And for some strange reason, this Southern born and bred chick is not depressed in the least little bit. No siree, I love with this life I'm livin'. There are just some days when all you want is to freeze time and not run around like a maniac, in search of the future. The rain outside and the massive stack of magazines inside...They are good enough for me today. Congrats to all of my nice plates-buying friends. I think you're swell!
