Posted a day late....
11:25 am. I've been up for 7 1/2 hours. The adventure has begun. Everything went accordingly in the airport; I had no trouble. The E-ticket system has proven itself worthy once again and here I sit, 33,000 feet above the ground. I am on row 32 of 32, seat D, nicely planted between two restrooms, which unfortunately have not been given the wonderful gift of air fresheners-but it makes for a lot of company. I have an engine for each ear, but again, there are positives...symmetry (just the way I like it). I write for the people today. As they are all waiting to get back to their seats (for it is snack time), they are pretending not to read over my shoulder. It must be a curious thing, watching me type...Hello, Ma'am in the all white behind me. How goes it? Grandmother and granddaughter from Jamaica share the back of the air-bus with me...they are returning to NY from a visit home. The man in front of me is still standing in the flight attendant area, playing peek-a-boo and having a dance off with granddaughter-Jamaica. It is rather entertaining.
Thus, my trip is well on its way. This is my debut single in the city episode...completely alone and unaccounted for. What will I do? Where will I go? Who will I meet? The anticipation of it all is building. The snack tray is now half way to the back....Lady in white, hot shoes-that is one intricate rhinestone pattern on the toe.
"Sweetness in Starlight" sings to my right ear only, because of the left defected earphone. I really can't believe that I'm doing this. It seems trivial, I'm sure, but it seems to me that a path is unfolding before my eyes. I wish that I could describe the many feelings that swirl around my insides...elation, anxiety, hopefulness, butterflies, boldness, the whole enchilada.
Water and pretzels (oh yum.) are almost to me. Thanks to all of you who helped prepare me for this trip, even at such short notice. I'll keep you posted. Pray for direction, wisdom, confidence, and safety.
Barganier, Out.
